CURRENT STATUS:  I (Jo) am available again after 21 April 2011 (currently doing a house sit with eight cats, in Cyprus). I am especially looking for mid- to longer-term house sits/house care/property guardian sits in the UK, Europe and the Mediterranean areas. I will consider shorter sits too if they fit between longer sits. I do the house sits alone now, as Andrew and I are separated, but we remain friends, and he may visit now and then if the situation allows. He's also good backup if a problem does occur for any reason.

I understand that your home is your castle. We've had several castles of our own, so I know where you're coming from. We are a responsible, mature couple, returned to the UK in January 2007 from sailing our yacht in the Indian Ocean. We have been living on a narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal, and that's where I am based between house sits.

I am 52, a writer/publisher/editor, working from my laptop via the internet wherever I may be. Therefore I spend most of my time at your home, rather than doing too much exploring.  I am independent and resourceful, and love my own company. I am an animal lover - before going sailing we owned our own homes in South Africa, with dogs, cats (ncluding breeding Persians), horses, ponies, chickens, ducks ...! We're both non-smokers, and virtually non-drinkers; we lead quiet lives. Andrew is 64, recently retired from his own 25-year electronic engineering business (but now working as an engineer again outside London, on television outside broadcast vans and equipment). We do have house sitting references (since moving onto the boat they are probably in our storage unit, though!), and you are welcome to investigate us; we have no criminal records in any country of the world.
